The 11th Solar Africa 2026

July 31, 2026

Nairobi, Kenya — July 29, 2026

PNG Solar (Hefei Pinergy Solar Technology Co., Ltd.), a leading Chinese photovoltaic module and energy storage system manufacturer, is making a strong statement at the 11th Solar Africa 2026 exhibition, underway from July 29–31 at the Carnivore Exhibition Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya.

At Booth 153, PNG Solar is unveiling its latest N-type Topcon 650W bifacial high-efficiency photovoltaic modules and 51.2V 314Ah LiFePo4 battery alongside a comprehensive portfolio of energy storage battery systems, reinforcing the company's commitment to powering Africa's accelerating renewable energy transition.

PNG Cutting-Edge 650W Solar Modules

The star of PNG Solar's exhibit is its new-generation 650W N-Type TOPCon bifacial solar module (model PNGNH66-DGBR-650), featuring 132 half-cut cells and advanced TOPCon cell technology. Built with 210R N-type monocrystalline silicon cells, the module delivers superior conversion efficiency, improved temperature coefficients, and enhanced low-light performance—making it ideally suited for East Africa's abundant solar irradiation.

It combines exceptional safety with a cycle life exceeding 6,000 cycles and a 10‑year design life, significantly lowering long‑term costs. Its intelligent BMS ensures comprehensive protection, cell balancing, and remote monitoring via RS485/CAN, while the 16kWh module supports a 150A discharge current to reliably power essential loads. The modular design allows parallel connection of up to 16 units (257kWh total), and the battery is compatible with leading inverter brands such as Victron, SMA, Growatt, and Deye. With a wide operating temperature range of -20°C to +55°C and international certifications (IEC62619, UN38.3, CE), it is a robust, flexible solution for residential and commercial energy storage.

These storage solutions are engineered to pair seamlessly with PNG Solar's modules, delivering fully dispatchable solar power—increasingly cost-competitive at approximately USD 76/MWh, often cheaper than new fossil fuel-based generation.

East Africa: A Solar Market at Inflection Point

PNG Solar's expanded presence at Solar Africa 2026 comes as East Africa emerges as one of the world's most dynamic renewable energy markets-.

According to the Africa Solar Industry Association's (AFSIA) Africa Solar Outlook 2026, Africa's installed solar capacity may be nearly three times higher than previously estimated, reaching approximately 63.9 GWp—up from the 23.4 GWp formally documented--. The continent's share of global solar capacity has risen from below 1% to approximately 2.5–3%. Africa recorded the highest year-on-year solar growth rate globally in 2025, outpacing all other regions.

Kenya stands at the forefront of this transformation. The country currently has approximately 210 MW of grid-connected solar, accounting for 6.5% of installed electricity capacity--41. However, broader contributions from mini-grids, solar home systems, and commercial and industrial (C&I) installations exceed 200 MW, with more than 100,000 customers connected through solar mini-grids and over two million solar home systems sold annually—positioning Kenya as one of Africa's most dynamic decentralized solar market.

Kenya's C&I solar market is particularly compelling: solar electricity costs KSh 8–14/kWh over a 25-year system life, while Kenya Power (KPLC) charges most commercial customers KSh 18–28/kWh-. This 50%+ cost differential is driving rapid adoption across manufacturing, logistics, hospitality, and agriculture sector.

The Kenyan government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating solar deployment and energy storage integration. "The next chapter for Kenya is about scale, integration, and resilience—accelerating grid-connected solar, investing in storage, modernising infrastructure, and crowding in private capital," said Mr. Alex Kamau, Principal Secretary of Kenya's State Department for Energy.

Kenya's renewable energy mini-grids market is valued at approximately $1.2 billion (Sh155 billion), driven largely by off-grid solar and hybrid systems serving rural communities.

PNG Solar continues to deepen its commitment to the African market, delivering high-efficiency products tailored to the continent's unique energy needs.
